Llanishen Cardiff Station Road
« on: Monday 17 April 23 20:28 BST (UK) »
Hello I wonder if anyone can help me ? I am researching a house on Station Road Llanishen as suburb of Cardiff and was wondering if anyone knows which street directories might have it ? Oddly I cant find any Station Road listed in Kellys Directory from Univ Of Leicester etc. Which is odd.

Thank you Simon

Welcome to Rootschat  :D

I had a look at the Uni of Leic. and all that appeared to come up was a reference to Llanishen but no mention of Station Road.

Have you considered getting in touch with Glamorganshire Records Office to see if they can help?

Llanishen railway station opened in 1871 so it's reasonable to assume that the street named Station Road was only so named at some point after 1871.

Just out of curiosity I had a look to see how often Station Road, Llanishen was mentioned in the census records.

1881 has five households, 1891 has 11, 1901 has 58, 1911 only one for some reason and 1921 has 43.

Not too sure about 1939 as Llanishen isn't specifically mentioned.  The closest is Cardiff C.B. with 189 and Cardiff R.D. with 81.

You don’t say which year you are looking for. There is a listing for the street for 1911 here (p. 733, the printed page number). Inhabitants and house names, it seems. It is on the Leicester website.

https://specialcollections.le.ac.uk/digital/api/collection/p16445coll4/id/64254/page/0/inline/p16445coll4_64254_0

Hopefully the link will work, if not it is the Cardiff Directory 1911.

There are actually dozens in 1911 but the ditto marks under "Station Road" have been ignored by the transcriber.  The houses appear to have names, rather than numbers.
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.
