George Phillips in Kidwelly

This man is giving me the biggest headache ever and I'm beginning to think that the info is in front of me but I'm missing it

Apologies! Hallo, I'm new to the list and in dire need of some help please

George Phillips born Kidwelly 1847/50 father is John Phillips. George married Elizabeth Evans 1 Feb, 1869 in Bridgend and I have the certificate BUT I cannot get his birth certificate.  I've ordered 5, had 3 partial refunds and 2 wrong certificates, help!

Yes I am, I've had no luck getting his birth certificate yet however, thanks to a lovely lady on the Carms rootsweb, I now know that his Mother was Elizabeth (Lloyd?) born Kidwelly, his Father John born Llanelli and he had siblings Eliza, Lemuel, Mary and Philip all born in Kidwelly.  I also think his middle name may have been Lloyd? Until I get hold of a birth certificate I'm at a brick wall

Have you thought of applying for the certificate of Lemuel instead?  There can't be many of them around! 

If you need census information to enable you to narrow down birthdates etc, give us a shout!

That was a good idea but I had a look last night and today and there were no Lemuels born anywhere before 1875! although I have got 2 possible Elizas one 1848 in Llanelly and one 1847 in Carmarthen. Maybe one of these will shed some light

I couldn't find him last night either - thought maybe I was too tired to see straight! 

I wonder if you have talked to Carmarthen Register Office yet?  They are reputed to be very helpful and tried hard to locate my missing JONES family for me.

I guess if you are happy that you have the parents sorted you could skip the birth cert stage and look for the marriage - any joy there?

I have spoken to both Carmarthen and Llanelly Register Offices with no luck, which made me wonder if they'd registered any of the births (surely that's illegal?) I just wanted to verify that Lloyd was Elizabeths' maiden name as I've gone down so many blind alleys....

According to the lady on Carms Rootweb, John and Elizabeth married at Kidwelly Parish Church on 14 October 1825, but how on earth do I go further back now?
