Lost uncle
« on: Saturday 01 April 23 14:48 BST (UK) »
Good afternoon

I have been looking for a George Thomas West born 7th April 1911 in Hendon London UK. He was a home child and emigrated to Canada. I found some records showing he lived in York Ontario Richmond Hill area.
Any help to trace my uncle would be great. My grandad was a home child too but he moved back to UK. I don't know what happened to George
Many thanks
Ian

Canada has very strict data laws and information can be difficult to find.

Each Province manages their own records so you probably be better served looking at the Ontario archives and also the University archives.

I have found out quite a lot about my Canadian family by doing this.

For me Ancestry, FindMyPast, Family Search etc have shown me that they have limited records

You've posted in CANADA RESOURCES which is for resources not queries but there's lots of replies, information and advice on your earlier thread looking for the brothers-

Did you contact Fegan Homes for information as was suggested in 2022?

Thank you

Yes apologies I had forgotten I had messaged a few years ago. I've just been trying once again to see if Any. New. Information. I did contact Fagans and got some reports back but only went yo to mid 1930s. I'm lost after that.

Thanks I shall keep trying

George's obituary is in the Toronto Star, 16 March 1996, page B9.

It says George Thomas West - At York Central Hospital on Friday 15 March 1996.   Husband of Lillian (Clydesdale).  Uncle of E. Richards of England.  Brother in Law of Hilda Smith.   Missed by nieces and nephews.  Interment Victoria Square Cemetery.

Thanks RK. Much appreciated.

So it appears that George and Lilian didn’t have any children.
