I have a relative born 1796 in Troqueer called William Kerr, the entry on Old Parish Records gives his parents names James Kerr & Catherine Wilson followed by the word "Mounthooly" I can't find this on any map Old or New, can anyone tell me what this refers to, name of a place, name of a Farm, name of a House, what is it please, Troqueer Parish Church entry.

I see that James Kerr and Catherine Wilson also had Thomas in 1799. If Mounthooly also appears in his baptism record, I think it would be reasonable to suppose that it's a farm or croft that had disappeared or changed its name by the middle of the 19th century when the Ordnance Survey Name Books were compiled.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Got it!

https://maps.nls.uk/view/74400267 - almost at the top right-hand corner, between Burnside and Know.

Compare this with https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=15.5&lat=55.02661&lon=-3.63926&layers=5&b=1 - Burnside is still there but both Mounthooly and Know have disappeared.

Thankyou very kindly, I looked at that map myself and missed it so again, Thank You.

Some more work to do now, they moved from that area down to the Parish of Kirkbean.
