My grandparents are buried in Aberdare cemetery.Who could i ask to find out the plot numbers please?A relative is visiting in May,he says he will take photos for me.Thank you.Glenys

Thank you.My other grandfather was killed in the Bute pit,i think that was Treorchy,or Treherbert,will see if i can get those details as well.Glenys

I have the Trealaw cem info opened 1879 if you have any family buried there.  Treorchy cem opened 1871 ask for others in same plot they are usually family members.

My father  almost died as a result of a colliery accident in the Bute Colliery its in Treherbert  Rhondda

My grandfather was a clicker,an elite job in the shoemaking trade,but he took his family to Wales when the work dried up.He was killed1935 when one of the trams rolled back and killed him.He was 66.He was a master euphonium player and that was buried with him.

There is a newspaper report of his death (Caerphilly Journal 21 Dec. 1935).
It reports " On Friday when attending to his duties as an underground sheavesman .........was trapped by a journey of trams at Bute Merthyr Colliery and killed instantly".
It mentions he was a gifted euphonium player and faithful member of the Bute Merthyr Silver Band for several years  and he was a deputy conductor.

I have never seen that report.The death certificate said run over by a journey of trams,that was crossed out and one tram put in.
