Trying to link two Booseys in Essex
« on: Sunday 12 March 23 21:26 GMT (UK) »
A little conundrum

I am trying to find the parents of Susann/Suzan Boosey  the wife of Henry Grave

Sorry if this is confusing .
Please see attached image, it might help .

Henry Grave (Snr 0f Blackmore) will of 1657 states wife Suzan and mother Jane Boosey, I'm thinking that mother in this case is actually mother in law. I am presuming that his wife would be Suzan Boosey.

He left £100 to one of his sons (Henry), being part of a debt owed to Henry by the rector of Willingale Spain, Anthonie Nicholas.

I have found a burial (1670) and will (1668) of Jane Boosey (of Doddinghurst)  leaving money etc to her two Grandsons Henry and Thomas, so this is the Jane Boosey mentioned in Henry's will.

Henry Grave (Jnr of Doddinghurst) will of 1684 leaves money to Mother Susann , and to the poor of Doddinghurst and Blackmore.

Meanwhile ....

Edward Boosey , rector of Willingale Spain, married Jane Bogas nee Elliot in 1612 in London , and all the children i can find were bapt in Willingale Spain. I am yet to find a Suzan or Susann that could be Henry Grave's wife, no baptism and not mentioned in Edward's Will

Anthonie Nicholas mentioned in Henry's will became rector upon the death of Edward Boosey.

Could the Jane Boosey, Henry's mother in law be the same Jane Boosey , the wife of Edward Boosey, I don't think so but ..

Is there a link or a coincidence of names ?

Just reopening this post in case any new members have arrived that may have any Boosey/Grave connection.

I have Booseys from Essex. My earliest known Boosey ancestor is William Boosey born c1630 likely in the Chelmsford area. He died in 1675 in Writtle, Essex. I believe he had brothers Isaac and Abraham Boosey.

In his will he mentions sons William, Isaac and Abraham and daughter Anne and kinsman John Boosey. Witnesses Mary Miller, Sarah Stacey, Edward Stacey and Tho Stewkey??

Have you a marriage for Henry Graves senior?

The only one I can see to a Susan is the one in Bassingbourne, Cambridge,  24 Oct 1644
To Susan MORRICE

Whether Jane BOOSEY is Henry or Suzan’s mother, is it possible she remarried to Mr Boosey?

Hi coombs, I seem to remember some of those names from my searches, I will look back at my info.

Hi mckha489 , no I don't have a marriage for Henry Snr yet. Interesting idea re remarriage, she might not have been a Boosey by birth.
