Thaks Chris, all the info fits, Mrs and Mrs Jones are now dead. The age seems right, but the boys do not seem to exist in the census or anywhere on the web. I am unable to find the parents or any members of the family. This is why the service records might help.
I am not sure where else to look.
Again thanks

Hi Roadrunner

Have you checked the BMD indexes online http://www.1837online.com  ???

From 1912 the indexes show the mother's maiden name so you could match that up if they were all full sister and brothers.

Is it likely that none of them were born prior to the 1901 census?

I have checked BMD, but there is nothing after 1910. The mothers maiden name was williams. Her name Clare abt 1893 Williams. She had a brother Aubrey, two sisters Roseline and Olive, but as far as I can see they are not there. The boys must have been born after 1914, but according to the info from the Commonwealth War Graves they were all born in 1915 which is not possible.

Sorry,
I forgot I have not checked Bmd 1837 BMD online as it is a problem from this end.
Parents Clare Williams
Father Thomas Benjamin Demaid, but he changed his name to Jones I think before the boys were born. He was born around 1890. I have sent for a BC for a Demaid as for as I know it is on the way, but this will not help me find the family.

Hi Joy,

I'm sorry, I've run out of ideas :(

Other than trawling through 1837online from about 1910 to 1945 to check possible births/marriages for the boys under every possible name variant, which would take quite a while (and of course the cost mounts up!) I can't see any other way of finding out about the boys.

The only other option I can think of is if their sister is willing to write a letter with you to request access to their service records and again for all three that's going to be quite expensive.

Good luck
Tabitha :)

Thanks, I will get a letter from the sister and also will  be in the UK next year so will go to Kew myself. Is this the best place to look up records?
I will crack this one as I do not let things defeat me.

Hi Joy

No, you can't look them up yourself I'm afraid as these records are not at Kew, they are still with the Ministry of Defence - address as in Tabitha's post above or the link below:

Joy if you are going to be in London you might like to visit the Family Records Centre, heres a link to their website, at least there you will have access to BMD registers

http://www.familyrecords.gov.uk/frc/default.htm

as Casulguidi says Kew does not have personal records from WW2, could you not send for one record at a time, you don't have to get them all at once....
