Hello George,
Would your Sturgis family have a surname Bletsoe? My Sturgis was a Thomas who married Hannah Bletsoe from Monkton Deverill in Wiltshire. My Sturgis family came from Kingston Deverill.
I would love to hear from you if we share the same family.
Regards, Sue

Hi,
In my tree I have a John Sturgis, born c1860 who married a Sarah J Bletso, born c1855.
They had a daughter Florence born in Monkton Deverill, and then 3 children bornin Westbury, Wilts.
Does this fit in with anyone?

Hello Paula
Yes, I have a Sarah J Bletso 1855, the daughter of Thomas Bletso and his wife Selina who married in 1853. Thomas was the son of Henry Bletso who was my great x3 grandfather's brother Joseph Bletso.
I think I have managed to get back to about 1730 to a John Bletso who was Henry and Joseph's grandfather from Rushden in Northamptonshire and would be happy to let you have any info you may not have.

Hi Sue,
Sarah J Bletso's sister Alice, is my BIL's Grandmother.
I did think that Thomas' father was Henry, but without the marriage to Selina I didn' have the proof.
Would love to share anyinfo.
Bst wishes

Hi Everyone,
I'm interested in finding connections to a Walter Bletso and Mabel F. Polden who married in Brixton Deverill (St. Michael) in 1942. Does anyone know of this family?
From Mozzie
Poolman, Polden, Scratchley (Wiltshire/Somerset): Hutchens, Roscrow, Mann (Cornwall/St.Buryan): Bradshaw, Squires, Griffen, Griffin (Surrey/Battersea): Brown, Hedgley (Essex/Southend). Also Bradshaw, Roscrow and Hutchens in Australia.

Hi,
All my Bletsoes were from Monkton Deverill initally and my great x 4 grandmother Hannah married a Sturgis. Your Walter has to be related somehow. I have an extinsive Bletso tree but was unable to find a Walter at first glance.
Are you able to give me Walter's parent's names? Feel free to email me:

Hi all, I have just joined the Roots Chat pages.
My mother is a Bletsoe (with the 'e') from South Newton, NrSalisbury and her family all came from Monton Deverall as well.
I have done some research into the family and found many skeletons!! and links back to the Bletso (no 'e') family.
I guess that makes some of us cousins! maybe!
I am happy to exchange info with anyone I can help.
I was born in Chippenham and have done some work on my paternal side as well.
regards to you all - Dave Clack
Oh sorry - we also have the name 'Sturgess/Sturgis/Stergiss' coming up in our tree as well. My grandmother lived next door to another Sturgess in South Newton!
