Thank you, we suspected this.
I had problems with my Paternal G/mother, she has 5 different names but, thanks to the wonderful people on this site, I discovered she had been married 5 times.

Update.... Margaret was born in Cambuslang, her birth was registered there and then a few days later it was transcribed at Drymen.

Update.... Margaret was born in Cambuslang, her birth was registered there and then a few days later it was transcribed at Drymen.

The rule was that a birth had to be registered in the Registration District where it occurred.

If, however, the parents' usual residence was in a different RD, the Registrar in the birth RD had to send the details to the Registrar in the RD where the parents lived, and he then added it to his register, so you get two records of the same event.
