Wow!  You have found a lot of information for which I am very grateful.  I had seen the family in Derby and had wondered if they were my family but couldn't really connect anyone living in Derby.  I am now going to look further into this as we have a connection with Ormskirk, my grandad William was born in Ormskirk in the early 1880s.

Thank you.  It could be that the Harkin family were friends with my family.  That would make sense as to why his name and address were given to the poorhouse.

Or that Mr Harkins was a supporter & lender of a helping hand of those from his area/NI who made the trip from Ireland to Scotland
