Rootsweb problem
« on: Wednesday 07 September 05 17:09 BST (UK) »
Is anyone else having this problem?  I subscribe to several mailing lists, but although I receive mail OK, but for some time now I am unable to send any messages as they are always returned - presumably blocked by Rootsweb.  It is driving me mad - I can't even make contact to cancel my subscription to any list.  Does anyone have any advice please?

Have you changed your email programme?  This happened to me when I ditched Outlook Express and switched to Incredimail which sends graphics files attached and the servers for Rootsweb won't accept them.  It may be that you need to change your email to "plain text".

I made several attempts to advertise RootsChat.com on a RootsWeb mailing list I was subscribed to.

None of the messages made it to the list, so I have decided to unsubscribe from all the lists.

Thanks Mary.  I realise I should have said in my original message that I had not made any changes whatsoever (as far as I know).  I have the suspicion that some ISPs are blocking Wanadoo, which, most inconsiderately, Rootsweb have decided to do also.  Unfortunately, I pay Wanadoo for 24/7 Internet access and here in Spain it is notoriously difficult to get out of it.

I wish you the best of luck Donna, but at least you will be dealing with them in your own language I guess!
