There is a JOHN Puffett born c Broadwell, Oxfordshire, living in Fairford, Glous.
He married Jemima Wheeler 4 Apr 1840 and names his Father as JOHN a Labourer
There is also a JOHN Puffett 1818 Filkins, Oxfordshire who married 1840, Father DANIEL a Labourer
So a couple of other possible Fathers for William.
Daniel didn't marry until 12 Nov 1814 (he was a bachelor at marriage) Their son, John (mentioned above) was baptised 20 Apr 1817, but there is a big enough gap for another child. Although a little later than 1810, that is indicated for William on census etc.
