James Digby married 1746
« on: Saturday 28 January 23 13:53 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I'm looking for help with

James Digby who married Maraget Cook in Essex around Castle Hedingham 1746.

I just can't seem to find his parents.

I've taken to starting my tree all over again due to getting things wrong.

Thank you

Don't know if this is the right man, but there is a baptism for James Digby.

Born, 9 May 1722, bap. 11 May 1722 at Belchamp St. Paul, Essex.

Parents are James and Sarah Digby.

If not born in Essex then there is one baptised 13 August 1724 at Ropley, Hampshire.  Father is James, no mother mentioned.

These baptisms are transcripts, no image available.  I put in 1720 as birth year, plus 5 years on either side.

For information, which might help others. On freereg

James & Margaret had a number of children baptised at Castle Hedingham : St Nicholas : Parish Register

ANN 1747, Sarah 1748, Hannah 1750 (buried 1851), JAMES 1752, WILLIAM 1757, REBEKAH 1759, MARY 1761, ALICE 1863, plus below.

Mehetabel (FEMALE) 1754, (Hannah Jemima 1756 The child's name was originally written Hannah but this was underlined and Jemima written above and slightly to the right; it's unclear which is correct or whether two names were intended. She was buried  later same year)

John & Sarah had children baptised there from 1761, maybe related.

Based on the parents names the James birth 1722 posted by Girl Guide looks very possible.

Colin
Clarke, Trickett, Orton, Lawless, Norton, Detheridge, Kirby, Goodfellow, Wagstaff, Lowe, etc.
