Parents of Charles Sydserff Laughton

Hello everyone

I'm struggling to find the parents of Charles Sydserff Laughton. He was born about 1798 in Scotland. He immigrated to Quebec before 1821 and married Janet Kerr on 16 September 1825. After her death he married Jane Patton on 6 Apr 1836. He died on 31 December 1865 in Valcartier, Quebec.

Quick search at Scotland's People website has a Charles Laughton born 10th March 1797 in Holm & Paplay parish (Orkney) to Jo. (probably John) Laughton and Janet Garioch. Ref: 10 / 167.

There is a Charles Sydeser  Lugton transcribed as (Sydeserfe on Ancestry )

Rosie's find looks promising 

There are other children showing for this Charles and wife Jane/Jean King. The surname is showing as LUGTON on all six entries. All entries in Prestonkirk, East Lothian except for Christian:

1786 - Christian in Athelstaneford
1791 - Janet
1793 - Alexander
1796 - Hugh
1805 - George
