Hi Newbie

Here they are in 1841 -

Ref HO107/1172/12 Folio 4 Page 3 (second page I looked at - how lucky is that!)
Address Slaughterford, Wiltshire

Richard Baker - 40 - Ag Lab
Susannah Baker - 40 - -
Eliza Baker - 10 - -
Caroline Baker - 4 - -
George Baker - 2- -

Then comes the even more interesting bit !!!
Same house, separate household,

Ann Holder - 15 - -
Jasper Holder - 10 - -

Just as Sue found in the 1851 !

Actually, just for completeness and there may be no connection at all, there is another household in the same property -
Lydia Beazer - 45 - -
Elizabeth Beazer - 20- -
Rachel Beazer - 15 - -
Joseph Beazer - 10 - -
Eliza Beazer - 7 - -

I wonder what 'step' meant in those days. If Ann and Jasper had been Susannah's children by a previous marriage, I've usually only seen that relationship described as son/daughter, son-in-law/daughter-in-law or even niece/nephew (in the case of my own great grandparents!)

Anyway, it all adds to the fun  ;D

Regards

Angela

Me again,
had a quick look on Family search and found a Richard Baker and Susannah Kemmery marriage 7 Mar 1832 North Wraxall Wiltshire. might be mine?
then I found  the birth of the children
George Baker, birth 1839, parents Richard Baker and Susannah Kemmery,
Caroline Baker, birth 1837 Wiltshire, Richard Baker, Susannah Kemmery
Elizabeth Baker or Holder, christening, 20 May 1832 North Wraxall Wiltshire, parents Richard Baker and Susannah Kemmery

so in the 1841 there is an Eliza  is that the one above do you think, why the  two  surnames,  even more confused now! ;D

Hi Newbie

I had a look at your find on Family Search - looks very promising  ;D It's a submitted record so may or may not be accurate BUT it just so happens that I'm going to the Record Office on Tuesday so can double check these entries for you if you like...

Second thoughts - I've just checked the marriage entry on the BVRI and it has Richard BAHAR (!) and Susannah Holder married on the 7th March 1832. It's looking more and more like she was a widow with children when she married. Looking at the North Wraxall parish records should confirm this and also find if there's a suitable death, if you can wait until Tuesday!!!!

Very exciting !!!

Angela

and we have  baptisms in North Wraxall of -

Sarah Kimery Holder daughter of Peter Holder and Susanna Kimery 10 dec 1820
George Holder son of Peter & Susanna Holder 20 Oct 1822
Job Holder son of Peter and Susan Holder 1 Feb 1824
Ann Holder daughter of Peter and Susanna Holder 12 Feb 1826
Jasper Holder son of Peter and Susanna Holder 2 Feb 1828
Eliza Holder daughter of Susanna Holder 20 May 1832

Puzzling that - if Susanna had married Richard in the March, why was the baptism of Eliza down to just her in the May? Perhaps the original record will have some notes against it.

Fingers crossed

Angela
