McIvor/Mooney - Riordan marriage record

Hello

Can anyone help find my great grandmother and her second husbands marriage record. It possible one did not exist.

My great grandmother was born Elizabeth McIvor on her birth certificate. Born before her parents were married and lived under the last name Mooney until her first marriage to John Worthington.

This marriage was in 1908, Pontefract, Yorks.

Her and John moved back to Glasglow and he later died in the Cadder Mine disaster.

She had child, presumably out of marriage in 1918 (child called John Worthington) before marrying Michael Riordan.

The first child (namesake daughter) between my great, grandmother and Mr Riordan was in 1922.

She records her self as Mrs Riordan on that birth record.

Scotlands People, Ancestry etc. shows nothing. I have tried a few obvious miss-spellings.

Apart from a small spell living in Yorkshire before 1910 she lived in Glasgow until she died. Both her Michael were Catholics.

Any help appreciated.

Have you found her on the 1921 Scottish census?  Is she with Michael?

Is that her date of marriage on the birth cert - 24.12.1920?

Not sure on the 1921 census, her name is quite common so i dont know "which one" to buy!

That might well be the date, a Christmas eve wedding!

Its a shame i cant do a marriage search based on dates and see what name was used.

They have a tendency, in my family to shift dates, use other names (see other comment) or as i have found simply use false info!

Thanks. Yes thats right, and on the census. She was always Nellie to the children of her first husband and there grandkids, not to the later ones.

On Scotlands people, when i do a marriage search i even leave out the first name to see if i can get Michael Riordan and marrying any Mooney or McIvor.

What are the chances of those two names coming up together for same year of death.

Maybe i will have to take the plunge.

I suppose in my mind, there was always the suggestion in the family that Mr Riordan may have been married or engaged once before back in Ireland. His DOB: 15 Sep 1881 Mountfoley, Kerry, Ireland.

When no obvious marriage record came up, it all seemed a bit like that might have been true.

There is almost something a little, "haha" about the date of the marriage too if you catch my drift.

There is actually only one death entry (reference 607/ 429   Glasgow, Martha St) and it has both her married names on it so it will show up whichever names you use to search

Good spot, thanks! Why would it still be listing or her using the original marriage name, in particular if she was married again?
