I've been trying to work out if Barry's grandmother arrived via the GVT or by GWR. I've read the various sections on transport in the book referenced in an earlier post and it's companion book about Chirk.
From what I can find, in 1919, she is most likely to have travelled via Chirk to Preesgweene (which Arthur mentioned earlier). The station there doesn't exist anymore.
The Hurdsman book refers to a definitive book by David Llewelyn Davies,
The Glyn Valley Tramway, Oakwood Press, 1962. I might see if I can get it (second hand probably)*. It might be interesting to read in the cold and wet of January and February!
