Diary summary week ending 1st January 2023
« on: Monday 26 December 22 14:46 GMT (UK) »
Morning Folks
Hope everyone has recovered from the weekend, I didn't over eat but of course I don't really have such large meals with all the  trimmings so I suppose I have over eaten just slightly,  didn't drink either due to recent medication but I don't need drink to enjoy myself, can get intoxicated by the atmosphere

Have been to the nearest coast this morning , really a beautiful day, sun  out and blue clear sky,  watched those who chose dipping into the sea with the life boats hovering, didn't see anyone swimming but there must have been hundreds dipping , not for me

It hasn't seemed like Christmas this year, didn't get father Christmas  driving  round  with his Rotary supporters , it is always nice to see the children with father Christmas but of course they are also collecting for charity.

I didn't get to midnight service this year, I decided I didn't want to be  out in the car on my own after midnight,  think that was sensible

Enjoy whatever time you are not working  this week and we'll done to those who worked for essential  services over Christmas  and thank you, my friend spent 5 hours in hospital yesterday after collapsing , got an appt for tomorrow as a follow up, my friend said it was fist class and  she couldn't have got better treatment if it was private

Take care everyone  specially  those  who are snowed  on

Oh crumbs LM I think you’re the only one who’s remembered today is a Monday and therefore time for a new thread. We’ve been having a discussion about which day is actually bin day just like that advert on the tv.
We went to a midnight service …. at 4pm. The first year they’ve tried it instead of midnight. Apparently they got about the same number as they usually get attending.

I missed out on carol singing

But have a brilliant idea .
On Thurs eve I will do signlanguage carol at open mic

Not a problem I don't yet know all my numbers in Makaton
+I certainly don't know different birds
So I will just sign " bird ' for partridge .dove
hen .calling bird

Id like to go up to 7 because I have a wonderful memory of my aunt Sylvia who lisped singing " theven thwans.a thwimming "

Meanwhile I can sing carol's to myself  but have a sore throat
I had  a CD of a church service with carols but think I may have given it away .

If I manage to overcome technophobia may be able to get BBC radio leicester singalong on play back

Oh crumbs LM I think you’re the only one who’s remembered today is a Monday and therefore time for a new thread.

I've just realised this morning when I spotted the thread!

Boxing Day dips took place here too, three within three miles along our bit of the coast. I didn't go but saw the photos of a lot of hardy souls going into the sea, it was a lovely sunny day for it and low tide, lots of money raised for charity.

Brigid, your sign language carols sounds great, hope your throat is soon better.
Hope your friend is soon better LM.

Thank you Roobarb , my friend has an appt today for further tests today,  it happened a another friend several times,  I must contact him to find out  his results and what medication he was on, I do wonder if it is a blood flow problem but I am  not a Dr so  can't guess or suggest

I have made an effort to make sure I know what date it us and what day for this week, we aren't doing  our usual things and I think if would be easy to forget, not that I am worried really, I think I am all there as they say

Really nice weather for the time of the year,  we can get out and about, must admit I really do not like the week after Christmas,  can't help feeling a bit sorry for thise who are stuck in due to snow but in places like Canada I understand the roads are cleared very quickly, not like here where the sidecroads are so treacherous.

I tried  something completely different  last night, I had been given a huge slice of Christmas cake, it was so rich that I decided to put creme fraiche on it and it was really delicious,  tasted more  like Christmas pudding to  be honest

Enjoy  your day

I love Doc Martin, I've watched all of the old series more than once. I recorded the Christmas special on my hard drive DVD recorder to watch another day. Yesterday, said recorder decided to give up.  :( I tried everything to resurrect it but looks like it has gone to techno heaven so I then ordered a new one, due to arrive tomorrow. I can watch DM and other stuff on the streaming device but unfortunately that means I can't fast forward through the adverts. Ah well, there are sadly many much worse problems in the world.

I hope Diana is okay over in Canada, have been reading about the dreadful storms that hit the US, some people stranded in their cars for two days, it's unimaginable.

I didn’t get very far with Doc Martin as the itv catch up service threw a hissy fit in the middle and wouldn’t work. It’s just been upgraded and supposed to be shiny and new…….. same issues as before from my perspective.
Have been enjoying Richard Osman’s Festive House of Games series .
