Afternoon everyone, I am back on my family tree after a very long break away and have found myself drawn back to the tragedy that struck this family.
Jane Clarke nee Maguire born c1870 who is not actually my relation but was the first wife of my 2nd great grandfather. They married in Anderston, Glasgow on 24 Jan 1889. Her parents were John Maguire and Mary Lyons (I dont have any more information on them yet).
Jane and Patrick had 4 children who all died in infancy: Mary 1889-1891, Patrick 1891-1891, Sarah Ann 1892-1893 and Jane 1894-1894.
Patrick married my 2nd great grandmother Mary Reilly in 1898 so I know sometime between 1894 and 1898 Jane has either died or they have divorced. I was wondering perhaps due to the deaths of her children was she so depressed she ended up in some sort of institution, I can't even imagine the pain she must have been going through. If that happened would Patrick have been allowed to remarry?
Regardless of that I cannot find her death certificate anywhere on Scotlands People and I presume even if she died in an institution it would still be available?
So perhaps she didnt die in Scotland. I dont have my ancestry membership at the moment (hoping for it as a xmas present!) so can't check the English records easily.
any other ideas from anyone?
Thank you so much
Aileen
