What crime was Easther whipped for .

Can anyone decipher this crime from.1749 in Whiston lancashire .

Several people were involved including a widow and her son and I think it said that Easther Molyneux should be whipped til blood comes .
But I also think the word acquitted may be there

It's some kind of Felony but can't make out 3 subsequent words

Does it say. -  This court doth

Added…I do not see the word acquitted in the clip (which I realise is not the whole piece).

I see

"stript naked from the middle upwards and severely..."
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

Agree with previous reply. i.e. "This court doth".

I cannot see any word "acquitted", but I take the sentence to be that after her punishment she will be discharged.

Thanks a lot . ..I think it included tied to a pole

I'm not sure if I can include whole clip
IF all the participants were whipped or if the other people were the victims

What constitutes a felony ?.

I managed to read the rest now
it involved the Cowper family; widow Elizabeth + John and Sarah Wormley
And they ...were to be severely stripd naked from middle upwards and severely whipt til blood comes at the Rognod ? POst Of  Wigan

So it sounds like a public punishment

It’s “Rogues Post”’

from The Court leet records of the manor of Manchester, from the year 1552 to the year 1686, and from the year 1731 to the year 1846 available at archive.org.

In the Introduction, referring to a court held in 1681: "Those who were sentenced by the magistrates to be publicly whipped were tied to the Rogues Post..."
