Just search on Martha Duncan or use her maiden name Cruickshank for deaths in 1951.   She is registered under both surnames with the ref no 168/1 77 in Aberdeen Northern District

Both of her marriages are on her death cert. But of course due to lack of space there is no note that she was a widow. Hence my search based on her marriage in 1942 to 1951 her death. She was my grandmother and never met her.

Sorry - I am easily confused. :)   You have Martha's death in 1951 so are you looking for James's death between 1942 and 1951??

I've noted Martha's (Cruickshank) Death Notice (8 Jan. 1951) in Aberdeen Evening Express (issue 10 Jan 1951) where she is described as WIFE of James Duncan and relict of William Johnston. Are you sure that James died between 1942 - 1951? Perhaps he was missing.

Also in Abdn Evening Express, 15 Jan 1951- an 'Acknowledgement and sincere thanks to friends and family etc.' is printed in the name of Mr James Duncan and family.

Thank you. I have been looking on Ancestry for deaths beyond 1951 with no success.
Difficult without any reference to Martha or family  on obituaries or on the photos, if any. I'll keep looking and seeking inspiration!
Thanks to everyone who has been looking. David

A year after Martha's death the Johnson family members put two touching in memorium notices in the
Aberdeen Evening Express on 8 January 1952 but there is no mention of her husband James :-\

I think the Johnston family were not impressed with Martha aged 48 marrying a man aged 67!! I was only 3 at the time so personal memory of her death.
