James Gibbons birth Quebec Canada
« on: Saturday 22 October 22 15:55 BST (UK) »
Looking for children of Mary Collins, birth about 1789 possibly Quebec and John Gibbons, birth about 1787 location unknown.  He passed before 1816 based on a birth of a child Mary Ann Gibbons in 1816 where he was noted as deceased.  He was a grenadier in 100th regiment at time of marriage in 1808 and stationed in Montreal

I find a possible birth of a child James about 1809 at Basilique Notre-Dame; Montréal but the record seems to be somehow related to a child Charles Beik on the same page.  Online the record says parents as father Gibbons and mother Mary Collins.   Charles' info:

Birth Date:   18 Avril 1809
Baptism Date:   20 Avril 1809

The image is a bit of a challenge abut it looks like the text record in Quebec archives has mixed two baptisms.

James Gibbons appears to have been baptized on 20 Apr 1809 as well
Snip of both entries attached

Second fragment has nothing to do with your Mary & John. Different father, different mother.
I don't understand why you think there's a connection.

The reason for the question was that the translated digital record has the child Charles Beik with parents Gibbons and Mary Collins. Suspect that whoever did the translation for digital record made an error but was unable to read the record easily.

I reached out to the Archive when I saw the document, but a reply could take some time.

I can't read all of the writing but the entry is dated 20th Apr.1809. The child baptised, James, was born "avant hier", the day before yesterday (so 18th Apr) to the legitimately married John Gibbons, soldier in His Majesty's ? Regiment, and Mary Collins. The godfather was James Collins, godmother Marguerite Dufrêne(?)
Signed by father John Gibbons and godfather James Collins.
