Lancashire Lookup. Inquest
« on: Monday 17 October 22 15:24 BST (UK) »
Hello
I am hoping someone can help me look up if there are any further details of a relatives inquest.  Alice Pimlott died 4th May 1924. in Hulme.  Her inquest was conducted on the 5th May.   She died of shock due to her clothing catching alight.
Thanks

Welcome to Rootschat

If you are looking for the actual inquest report you will need to apply to the Coroners office

I had a similar situation with my fathers younger brother who died aged 3 in 1912 having set himself alight whilst playing with matches.  The inquest report was virtually the same wording as was on his death cert

Hi,

Welcome to Rootschat :)

Not the inquest but a newspaper report which gives some more details. Such a simple thing to do that caused the accident. It looks like she must have been in hospital for nearly a week before she died, very sad.

Hartlepool Northern Daily Mail Tuesday 06 May 1924

Alice PIMLOTT (21) of 38 Clarence Street, Hulme, died at the Royal Infirmary on Sunday from burns caused by her print apron catching fire when she was getting her purse off the mantlepiece in her home on April 28.

Regards,
Daisy

Hi,

I found the article in the "Hartlepool Northern Daily Mail 06 May 1924" at FindMyPast.

It's also available here,

but as a mangled transcription  ::) :)
