Bradmore Grove no longer exists but it was off Beadon Road, next to the railway line.

Thanks Colin, I do know about the 1851. I've never found a suitable marriage to a Maria, and on his marriage to Elizabeth he states bachelor.

Do you mean 1861 census from previous post?

Could this be William in 1851 census

1841 census

That's a bit confusing. Family on 1841 and 1871 which fits your 1851 suggestion - wife Mary b c1815, children Peter b c1841 and George b c1849.  Only problem is her husband is also called Peter - and he's a basket maker

Ah.  Ancestry have transcribed the 1851 as Peter not Wm - and the image seems to bear this out. Related family perhaps?

Added: I should scroll down on the image. Wm's the brother boarding in the same household!

You mention that you have his previous census so I guess you know about his previous wife being Maria?

William Nichol
Birth   1804 Middlesex, England
Spouse   Maria Nichol

Residence
1861 Hammersmith, Middlesex.

Colin

I'm sure by now you are aware that I referred to the 1861 in  my post.

Just one question from your original post.

How did you know his wife's name in 1871 would be Elizabeth?

By the way there are marriages for William on Ancestry 1828 to 1836, 3 Mary's & 1 Maria.

Colin
Clarke, Trickett, Orton, Lawless, Norton, Detheridge, Kirby, Goodfellow, Wagstaff, Lowe, etc.

Sorry Colin, I did mean the 1861! Apologies for the typo and confusing people.

William married in 1852 to Elizabeth, I have the cert,  but the 61 says wife Maria ... unless either the 61 or 71 is wrong? I've not found William on the 81 and not sure about Elizabeth. I would like to find deaths, but it seems hard given the common names.

Plus, to answer further, William is with his brother  on the 41 and 51. If William was married he wasn't with his wife, if his wife was Maria. He sure is  tricky fella to unravel!

These seem to be the possible death registration, given the registration areas for Hammersmith & Fulham in the day.

   NICHOLLS, WILLIAM       66
GRO Reference: 1871  J Quarter in CHELSEA  Volume 01A  Page 161

   NICHOLLS, ELIZABETH       81
GRO Reference: 1889  J Quarter in FULHAM  Volume 01A  Page 179

In 1881 it looks likely that Elizabeth a widow is in Fulham Union Workhouse, Hammersmith Road, Fulham, London & Middlesex, age is noted as 76, so not quite right.
