Hi Aussiedale and welcome :)

I think this could be your man in 1871 - the only possible match I could find (and even then it was indexed as Bogel!).

There is a likely marriage for Edward Boyce and Alice Pear at Nottingham St Mary 28/11/1859.

Hi Heather,
I think you must be an angel.  Thank you so much for that info.
I was just about to give up on him for a while. TypeO's don't help do they.

This was my first post so you can imagine how thrilled I am.

Thankyou so much.  Watch out for the next half a dozen or so.

Cheers for now AussieDale

Hi Suepip.

Thank you so much for your assistance.  It is really greatly appreciated.
Please pardon my inexperience, but where do I go from here?

If they were not born in the county, where to next?  Family heresay ( which is now about twenty or more out of date) says that "John Boyce" came from Yorkshire/Lankashire. which is obviously not true, but possibly his grandparents were.

I guess there is a site out there somewhere for lookups, probably on Rootschat!!!!  Sorry, I'm answering my own questions here.

Will go now and have a look. Many thanks once again for your help.  If you think of anything, could you please let me know.  Tips and sites are greatly appreciated for us newbies.

Cheers for now.  Aussiedale.

Hi
I am descended from the Boyce family of Colston Bassett.  Charles Boyce I believe came from a place called "Irnham" in Lincolnshire.  He was born 2nd December 1776 and died 27th February 1858.  He is buried in Colston Bassett churchyard - I have a photo of the grave.

Charles Boyce had a son John Boyce who had a son Edward Boyce.  Edward Boyce I think is the father of your John Boyce.  I am desceded from John's brother George.

Hope this makes sense !!
Geoff
