« on: Thursday 22 September 22 09:49 BST (UK) »
I am looking for information about my grandfather's sister Edie, I don't have any date of birth or death for her. My grandfather, Ernest Smith was born in Manchester,1917 ?  then the family moved to Nottingham later on. All I know about Edie is that she helped many Jewish families settle in the UK during WW2. I would very much like to know more about her and any help would be much appreciated,Thank you.
Father's surname-Smith,gran was Corden-Manchester/Nottingham. Mother's maiden name-Parry,family from Pentraeth,Anglesey. Great Great granparents were Charles and Mary Conlon-Ireland.Great grandfather  was William E. Conway-Old Colwyn.

Sadly no, I only met my father when I was 15 and have met with him maybe 3 times after that. At the time the history of the family wasn't important, now I'm older,it is.

There were 5 Ernest Smith's born in Manchester 1917 +/- 2 years, can you add any other information, such as a birth date, did he have a middle name, was Edie older or younger?

From your father’s birth certificate you should be able to identify his mother. Therefore

Have you got Ernest’s marriage certificate?  Can you give all the details on that please.
