On 14 August 1914 the Bournemouth Graphic reported a case before the magistrates court under the Aliens Act of a young German seaman (Karl Holm) failing to report in the required time-frame.
He was placed in the care of Supt Bowles until it was determined if he could proceed to Fowey. Unfortunately there is no subsequent article in the newspaper that details the outcome.
