Help to Identify Townland/Registration District in Downpatrick
« on: Tuesday 30 August 22 17:53 BST (UK) »
I have an ancestor who was born in Downpatrick in the 1930s, although we cannot read the Registration District or Town names on their Birth Certificate if anyone could help to identify them at all that would be amazing.  :)

Workhouse Downpatrick in column 8, then Down Union R.D. [Registration District) in column 2.

Here's information about the Workhouse-

Agree with aghadowey.

Plus the word 'Occupier' above Workhouse and above that his signature (which is unreadable).

The certificate snips are distorted - was it photographed with a mobile phone? Scanning on a glass flatplate is much better.

Posted on duplicate thread-
I don't think it says Donaghadee. Looking at the last part I see 'patrick' although the writing is dreadful. As well as that, there was no Workhouse in Donaghadee. County Down ones were Banbridge, Downpatrick, Kilkeel, Newry and Newtownards-
