Is it the death of William you are wanting looked up?

The only one I can see in Hawkhurst is 21 Dec 1817. Indexed on FindMyPast. No image.

But they are available at LDS

The marriage took place in Goudhurst, and William's parish at that time was Marden.

Codham/Coltham, Kent

The marriage is on FreeReg, as Toth says, groom - of Marden, and by licence.

In which parish did they baptise their children? I'm assuming the dates you have given for his death are from the marriage to possibly a later marriage for Lydia? In which parish did she remarry?

Hi All who replied.

Here is a bit more info.

William Gray bp 27/7/1765 St Laurence,  Hawkhurst Kent. Father Arthur mother Elizabeth, mn Spice

He married Lydia Golden 3/12/1795 Goudhurst. his parish was Marden Kent, by licence.

I have maybe 1 child for a Lydia. Phebe Grey  bap 25/1/1801 Marden, Kent.

Lydia then married Richard Peck 2/7/1804 Salehurst Sussex by banns. Lydia was a widow and Richard a widower.

So William may have died between 1795 & 1804.

So did he died or  is this William Gray b 1765 Hawkhurst, Kent, indicted for feloniously stealing bales of Spanish wool 10 April 1805. He, along with John McCarty b 1771 age 34 and John Hall b 1753 age 52. They were tried in the Old Bailey 24/4/1805

Lydia was a widow when she married Richard Peck.

I have more info on the trial if needed.

Cheers

Thanks tweedie2 for the extra info. I looked at the William GRAY convicted at the Old Bailey, however there is nothing there to suggest he is your William, that I can see. He was a customs house officer, convicted as you say 1805. Lydia married earlier than this - in 1804 so unless she was a bigamist, I would think it unlikely the Old Bailey William is yours. It is a very common name.
