Edmund Bach
« on: Tuesday 23 August 22 15:24 BST (UK) »
My ancestor married in London in 1827. Edmund Bach was his name. Charlotte Mayland his bride.

His sons were born in 1828 and 1832 respectively, again in London. I have seen the entries for these events except the 1832 birth.

His wife remarried in February 1840, again in London (John William Barker). OK so Edmund must have died.

In December 1839 his wife appeared in court "dressed in mourning clothes". So, I thought he probably died after 1837 - likely in 1838 or 1839 if she is wearing mourning clothes. The case was brought by her employer in Worcester.

Edmund was a glovers traveller, potato merchant and various other dealerships all in London

However, I cannot find mention of Edmund in 1837-1840 death indexes. Any comments on how to find?
I wondered if his wife moved to Worcester from London after his death - just a guess!

thanks

Thank you.

I don't recognise the middle names and not aware of any connection with the area. Still I suppose there is a chance it could be him.

Don't forget that Edmund may appear as Edward, or even Edwin.
On his death records he'd have no say in the matter!

Bache for Bach?

Interesting
Been on Findmypast free weekend. Think I may have cracked it. Edmund Bach born in Hereford 1805. Son of one Thomas Robert Bach a glover. Given that Edmund is described as a Glover's traveller in 1830 bankruptcy - then there is that and the name Robert. Robert was one of Edmund's sons born 1832.

Dont know if I can rely on this though.

Charlotte Bache in the newspaper reports, Dec 1839
Widow with two children, to be married soon.
Also says that she took a large dose of laudanum.
