I turned her around the right way, and made her a bit brighter.  You can easily see where there used to be an oval mat around the picture.

Sorry Tariana, I lost track of this thread for a while, but finally found it again - the three non-tintypes are all gelatine prints, making them post-1885-ish, but apart from that I can't help much.  You would need someone with a knowledge of historical fashions to give you a hand...why not post the pics on the Photograph Restoration board?  There are more people lurking there who would be able to help!

The images on tintypes are laterally reversed - that is to say, they are a mirror image! 

I'm glad to know about that Prue, I'll have to look at my Gt Grandfather backwards now!!!

From the look of the hairstyle in the second one, and the wide lace collar, I would say this one is early 1860's. The other two, with Excelsior on them, I would say were sometime from the 1880's. I am not an expert though; what does anyone else think?
