McWhirter any good?   I have a Jean McWhirter born approx 1811 who married at Doonfoot, Maybole in 1855, spinster age 46.   Not one of mine (result of a wild goose chase).   Parents are named as Gilbert McWhirter, occupation Forester and Margaret Girvan.  Jean was born in Kirkoswald.   Can send 1855 marriage cert. (lots of detail) if this is one of yours.
