Isabella street
« on: Sunday 21 August 22 14:12 BST (UK) »
Hi

Does anyone know where Isabella Street was? I know it was around Elswick. My family lived three and I have certificates with the street on it. I can't find it on any maps.

Thanks
Rosemary

Any census entries with it on?  If so that should help locate.

You can see it in the centre of the left-hand map. The right hand one shows what it's like today.

That's brilliant. Thank you. Does that mean it isn't there anymore? My mam lived there round about 1930s x

The link I posted for you is 'then and now'.
The r-h side shows you what's there now.
Put your cursor on Isabella Street on the l-h map, and a cross will appear in exactly the same place on the r-h map.
As you can see Isabella Street and all the other surrounding streets are long gone and replaced by modern housing.

I've been having a good look round it! They also lived on Northbourne St and Strickland Street. That's such a good resource. Thank you.
