Annie Golden b. Ireland 1835
« on: Wednesday 17 August 22 19:34 BST (UK) »
From research I find that the above lady married a William Park in Manhattan, New York on the 6th September 1871.  She was the daughter of Stephen Agen and Maria Steen her estimated date of birth is 1835 in Tipperary Ireland. William remarries in 1885, again in Manhatton so I am assuming that Ann
died between 1871 and 1885.  Could anyone give me clues as to where to turn next - cannot seem to find a death., any help greatly appreciated.  Regards Elizabeth

William & Annie #2's actual marriage record is here - https://a860-historicalvitalrecords.nyc.gov/view/7822950  It only says it was his 2nd marriage and not what happened to Annie #1.

William & Annie #1's marriage record is here - https://a860-historicalvitalrecords.nyc.gov/view/7838349

Thank-you to Sandra and Shellyesq for your replies and information.  William was the youngest child of Thomas and Isabella Park.  I am now trying to find the death of wife no 1 as well as conducting a search of her 'scottish' history. You have both been a great help. Regards elizabeth

elizabeth, have you found William in the 1880 census?  Annie should be with him if she was still alive at that time.

Are you trying to find her Scottish or Irish history?

Got slightly confused there - should be Irish history for Annie Golden, formerly Agen, daughter of Stephen Agen and Maria Steen.  Not sure how far I will get with Irish records as many were sent to Dublin and lost.     Elizabeth

Presume Annie was previously married, was that in Ireland or the USA ?

If I read the marriage record correctly maiden name stated Annie Agen - that agrees with father's name Stephen Agen - then name of wife Annie Golden.  I haven't found when/where she was previously married, or when the family moved to the USA - her place of birth is given as Tipperary Ireland. This is next on my list.. I have to admit that I have only had a couple of journeys into american records with my family.  Regards Elizabeth  p.s. other statement no of wife's marriage - second.

Annie Agen's first husband was Henry Golden.

from the image of the marriage record:
her address at the time was 109 W 36th
William's occupation: liquor dealer.

Ann Golden, widow of Henry, home 109 W 36th [image 1900]
Ann Park, widow of Joseph J, home 183 Mulberry*
Park & Tilford, grocers, 2 addresses, neither his home acc to marriage record
* included just because she was there. no necessary relation, but it might help rule someone out earlier or later.

-----------
I saw an ad along the way for Park and Tilford, purveyors of fine groceries, wines, and Havana cigars, so I think Wm Park is the Park in that partnership. but none of the listings gave a home address for him. just the store addresses.

---------------
this might or might not be the right Henry Golden. It looks good, since there is no good match for "your" Ann in this directory.
City directory

Ann Golden, h 212 South
Ann Golden, widow of Patrick, h 178 Laurens
Henry S Golden, carman, h 209 W 26th [all image 2292]

--------------
if so, he died about 1868, 1869, since ...
City Directory for the year ending May 1, 1869
Ann Golden, bdgh. [boarding house] 109 W 36th
no other Golden at that address
Wm Park, grocer, 2 addresses, neither his home, I don't think.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:6ZMP-RVHQ <- link to Ann Golden's page
------------
I stopped there. There are a few earlier directories that he or she might be in, and I didn't look for them in 1860, their marriage, or his death. And I didn't look very hard for Anne in 1870.
