He had married twice; by his first wife he had fifteen children and the second seven.
I think he is just making up nonsense here to further his cause. The records clearly show that he had more than seven children with Mary Ann and the four that died were aged one and under.
I think Thomas in 1891 was actually John as John reappears in 1901 but wasn't at home in 1891 when he would have been aged about six. Probably just an error by the enumerator.
