An entry in Familysearch says my great grandparents were married in 1892 at Gyon, Hungary.
Presumably it is local government copies of Synagogue registers which have been transcribed to Familysearch?
Do individual Synagogues keep vaults of ancient registers, or where might they be lodged?
And, I was wondering, might documentation such as engagement announcements or marriages be obtainable from the 19th century?
How I might track them down, given that many Synagogues were destroyed in Europe, and I don't speak Hungarian?
