Thanks to everyone for your info.
Seems I am on the right track..
Marriage information was useful.   I believe Edward (known to me as Ned) was married twice.
To Sarah Harte and to Sarah Hull (unsure of this second name) there were no children from that marriage.
The children from marriage to Sarah Harte is correct.
Would be very interested in any knowledge of Edward’s father Archibald or his mother .
Regards

When you say you are on the right track, does the information posted here confirm anything.

Here is Archibald in 1911 - already posted I think
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Londonderry/Garvagh/Cam/590911/

It shows that there were 10 children born and 9 still living.

This site https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/ is useful for searching those births.

You can search and check them to see if there is a candidate for an Edward other than Redmond.

The census also shows they had been married 50 years. Here is the marriage.

Edward McMaster's parents were Archibald McMaster (son of Arthur) & Elizabeth Arthur. (daughter of John Arthur & Elizabeth Moore). Elizabeth Arthur's parents & all of her siblings went to Canada and there's a large connection there yet.
Archibald McMaster & Elizabeth Arthur had 11 children: William, Sarah Margaret, Archibald, Mary Eliza, Jane, Thomas, John, Hannah, Samuel, Edmund, Sarah Margaret. The first Sarah Margaret was baptised by her grandfather John Arthur & she went to Canada with the Arthurs. Son Samuel later joined the family in Ontario. There are still quite a few of their descendants in the Aghadowey area.

Great information, aghadowey.
The first Sarah Margaret is the child who died then.
Sorry, just reread it and you say she went to Canada.

Can you confirm that Edmund is the Redmond birth?

I have files on the McMasters and Arthurs but much of it contains either living people or information told to me that I wouldn't feel comfortable sharing online.

Great information, aghadowey.

Can you confirm that Edmund is the Redmond birth?

The first Sarah Margaret was baptised 22 July 1869 Main St. (2nd) Presbyterian Church in Garvagh by her grandfather John Arthur shortly before she went to Canada before with the Arthurs. She died there in 1927. The youngest daughter was given the same name.
Yes, Redmond/Edmund/Edward is all the same person. Redmond might have just been misheard Edmund? Edmund & Edward are interchangeable and descendants of Edward's younger sister (Sarah Margaret II) still use both Edward/Edmund interchageably.
