When is 'Job DOne'
« on: Monday 18 July 22 11:18 BST (UK) »
I have two people that I am hopng are siblings, in order to confirm a family legend.
1. John Evans Born 1821, Kilrhedyn
2. Hannah Evans Born 1813, Kilrhedyn

Both their marriage certificates show their father as Samuel Evans, a farmer.
John Evans was baptised in Rock Chapel, Trelech. Parents are Samuel Evans and Mary (nee James)
Anne Evan (Hannah Evans?) was baptised in Rock Chapel, Trelech; Parents are Samuel Evans and Mary (maiden name not given at that time.

In 1851 Hannah Evans was a seamstress, and had a 20 year old seamstress named Rachel James living with her. (Possible descendant of Mary James? Suggests the Mary James may be Hannah's mother.
If Hannah and John are siblings the family legend is true.

I think I have shown it likely, but not proven. Agreed?

Find My Past has their baptisms as Anna Evans born 11 Feb 1820, baptised 4 June 1820 at Trelech Ar Bettws, independent church.  Parents Samuel and Mary.

The one for John shows baptism on 5 May 1821, born 19 March 1821. Place was Trelech Ar Bettws, independent church.  Again parents are Samuel and Mary but her maiden name is given as Pugh.

There doesn't appear to be any baptism for Hannah 1816 five years either side.

To me this would suggest that John and Anna/Hannah are siblings.

I don't know whether it's justified, but I discarded this Samuel and Mary because I'm looking for someone who calls himself a farmer.

Hard to say, but I hoped that if he called himself a farmer on his offsprings marriage certificates, he would do the same on bsptisms,. So I gave extra markes for Samuel Evans, Farmer.

Thanks. I think I'm going to have to do this the old fashioned way and go through the original document page by page. Either that, or pray for a miracle when my dna results start coming it!
