Julia Fouldes in Sheffield
« on: Wednesday 06 July 22 10:26 BST (UK) »
Hello all,

I am curious if any local Sheffield newspapers would have reported about the death of Julia Fouldes (born 1883 died 1889)? I know so little about this relative - she could be one of the many nameless photographs I have and will sadly never find out.

I haven't really seen many newspaper reports of any of my Fouldes relatives so am curious what exists for Sheffield.

Thank you
MJ
Fouldes.<br />Any area where our family are.  My branch started around Derbyshire, Nott's and Yorkshire.  We ended up in South Lincolnshire!  So yay!  Course any area with Fouldes in would help!  See my family tree below for what gaps I have!  Cheers!

Would also like to see any Beaumont's from Sheffield as I have lots of family photos & can't identify them!!

(born 1883 died 1889)

She was only 6yrs old and if she died of natural causes it's probably unlikely there would be an obit/article.

If she died other than by natural causes - it's more likely

Do you have her death cert?

I don't sadly. It was only a thought out-loud after some people had recently shared newspaper reports of other family members. I didn't really know what sort of things got reported in them.

I mean now I think about it if they reported every Victorian child mortality case the paper would probably be full just of that!

Does anyone else also have a ton of family photos but no clue as to who they are - and with noone to ask? I could just throw them but I can't bear the thought of them being destroyed!

Thanks any how!

MJ

Yes I found that one. On the 1911 census it stated they had 6 children plus 2 that had died. I had found Herbert before that but it did confirm that he seemed to be their child.

The other child was I think Harry who was born in 1888 and died 1889 (buried the 3rd January that year).

What I note that she had a child these years 1883, 1884, 1888, 1890, 1892, 1893, 1895, 1897. That is heavy going and I wonder about the four year gap between 1884-1888 seen as she seemed to have a child most years. I wonder if she suffered many miscarriages?  Whatever the case 8 children in in 14 years is some going!

Thanks again
MJ

1911 says 8 born - 5 alive - 3 deceased

I can see the birth reg for Harry on freebmd in Sept qtr 1888 but GRO online are not showing any match when you do a maiden name search

I was once told the burial details were 3 January 1889 at Burngreave Cemetery, Sheffield.  But you are right I cannot find Harry's death on the free BMD database either?! That is very odd. I tried spelling it both Fouldes and Foulds!

Wonder where he is?

FYI 5 alive:
James
John
Frank
Edith
George

3 dead:
Julia
Herbert
And the elusive Harry!

Thanks
MJ

That is probably Harry. They listed him as "Haryy". I suppose without a death certificate I cannot check for sure but that seems quite likely.  I still can't find him on the Free BMD - even knowing these details! Funny how fussy they can be!

There we go!

Thanks all
