Sortwell/Saltwell Family
« on: Sunday 04 September 05 20:49 BST (UK) »
I am researching the Sortwell (sometimes spelt Saltwell) who lived in Essex, particularly around the Potter Street (Harlow) area during the 18th and 19th century).

Thomas/Lydia, James/Mary Mackinder, Walter/Eliza Strangward/Penelope Clarke, Frederick/Emily Moy is my family line.

Keen to hear from any Sortwells or those linked with Sortwells

Hello,

My earliest 'Saltwell' I have on my tree (my great grandmother was Sophia Mary Saltwell, 1885 in romford) is her Grandfather John born around 1819 married a Sally who bore 8 children in Upminster area.

Does this tie in with any of your research

Hi

Just to let you know that i have come across the Saltwells in my research in the Great Waltham area, and the name has been spelt SAULTWELL, in some of the early records.

I also have an Anne Saltwell (bc 1817 C. St J. died 1885) marrying into the Fewell's in 1835 Chignal St James (just outside Chelmsford), be good to find out her parents.
