Brown family of Wentnor and Nicholas family of Bishop's Castle

Elizabeth Nicholas born 1780 Much Wenlock - daughter of Barnabas and Mary -  gave birth to John Nicholas Brown in 1816.  No father was named, but due to a DNA link I have with a descendant of the Brown family of Wentnor I kinow that one of the family of Brown brothers was the father.   Does anyone have this Brown family in their tree as I would like to ascertain which of the following brothers was the father of John Nicholas Brown?  The brothers were Joseph 1772, William 1774, a child born 1778 with no sex given so could be male or female, and Edward born 1783 all born to William Brown and Martha Cound.

Thanks Rosie 99. Date of the Brown child with no given sex is 10 May 1778 from Bishop's Transcripts of Herefordshire.

Thanks Gadget.  I somehow suspect that the eldest son Joseph (1772) might be the father as he stayed in the area but was already married.  Elizabeth Nicholas (mother of John Nicholas Brown) was 36 (bap 16 May 1780) when she gave birth to John - so no teenage fling.   I haven't been able to find the other sons William and Edward (plus possibly another brother) in the area.
Your suggestion about tracking DNA links is a good one.  I have a link from a descendant of Joseph who is my fifth cousin once removed.  Looking for someone who matches me more closely is my next job.  Thanks.

What is the shared DNA (in cMs) that you have with the Brown match? 

I found an online  tree (which I now can't find!) which had Joseph marrying in ??Much Wenlock in the 1820s and remaining in Shropshire. However, there were no sources and Joseph's DofB was given as 1778.

Shared DNA is 34 cMs (longest block) on gedmatch,  and 42 cMs in Familytreedna, both within the range given on DNApainter.  That far back I'm lucky to get any match at all!
There is a Joseph Brown b. 1802 who marries Sarah Jones in Much Wenlock in 1824.  He is the son of Joseph b. 1772 who marries Mary Edgar in 1798.  I suppose he could have remarried as I only have one child of the marriage to Mary Edgar - Joseph 1802 - but I have to admit I haven't gone searching for any others.
I am interested in what happened to Joseph's (1702) brothers - William 1774, Edward 1783 and perhaps the child born 1778.  I suppose that could have been another Joseph if Joseph 1772 had died.  I'm still looking through Ancestry, Familytree DNA, gedmatch and My Heritage for 'Browns' that match me.
