Looking for a Herbert Augustus Leopold Howard birth record

Hi everyone,
I am searching for a Herbert Augustus Leopold Howard and according to the 1939 England and Wales register his birth date was June 2nd 1896. I have later information and some info on his will which states his full name and address, which is correct from family information. He married Gladys Mary Moller in 1921 in Stockport. They seemed to have lived a short while after getting married in Fulham London. One son was born there Gilbert Fred Howard in 1922. I can not find a suitable birth record for Herbert and also finding difficulty to find a suitable match in the 1901 and 1911 census so I can get back further.

I wonder if that could be him?

Charles Edward Bergmann and Beatrice Emma Harsant

Passenger list  of 1936 NY to Southampton has
Herbert and Frederick Howard, aged 40 and 35 Directors  187 Buxton Rd, Stockport.
There is a Frederick Bergmann born 1901 Hackney mmn Harsant.

Possibly changed their surname before or during WW1.

That is great information Cathy to follow up on. I have not done much English family history just Ireland and Scotland so great help! Thanks ever so much. I will search for parents in the census as keen to learn how they started the factory in Manchester.

There is an article about Frederick Victor Howard (1901 mmn Harsant), formerly Bergamnn, in 1932:-

He was the brother of Herbert who is on the 1901 census

Frederick is on the 1911 census but I can't find Herbert.

P.S. There is a Frederick Victor Howard, same age and birth county, in Stockport in 1921, but I can't see the details. The 1932 article was his official change of name.

I suspect he is Albert, aged 14 yrs in 1911 with his parents Charles and Beatrice.

There is a tree on Ancestry which has Frederick Victor Bergmann marrying Gladys Dixon. It doesn't mention that he changed his name to Howard but the marriage in 1932 is under his new name.

The first child, John Michael, was registered in Hampstead Q1 1932
Second, Anthony George, Q3 in Hampstead. As George A in 1939

They are on the 39 register, but elsewhere.
