Schroeder/Schroder around Berlin early 1900's
« on: Saturday 28 May 22 09:58 BST (UK) »
Greetings,

For years I have been researching my family line based upon information gleaned from family mythology and some documentation that has surfaced. My grandfather played his cards close to his chest so little is known of his ancestral past and it has always focused on Norway and the surname HOLM.

However, DNA testing has altered that and although I do not have any confirmed direct link to the SCHROEDER name yet, an extensive family tree built from other DNA matches has pinpointed with some certainty my actual lineage which originates in Germany/Poland. (Y DNA confirmation)

My grandfather always stated he was born in Berlin prior to 1900 and it is now almost certain his father was Otto Heinrich SCHROEDER and his mother Anna Marie BREHM. Currently the aim is to find descendants still around Berlin and the most likely candidates would be related to Detlef Edmund SCHRODER born 1941 and Manfred Hubert SCHROEDER born 1943. Detlef's wife may have been Erika NEUBAUER. (this info from FindaGrave)

Detlef and Manfred were the children of Hubert Willi SCHROEDER and Helene Margarete FISCHER.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated

regards

Bruce

Thanks CiderDrinker,

that helps confirm the information that I have gleaned. What I am looking for is the possibility of locating descendants of any of those siblings who may still be residing around Berlin or Germany. My best hope are the two that I have identified - Detlef and Manfred who were born 1941 and 1943 who descend through Willi Otto. I am also unsure if there are descendants of Erich Erwin

Dave,

that is correct, the names of the children came from a will and the ancestral line is correct. What I am trying to ascertain is potential issue from either Detlef or Manfred that will enable me to to confirm what the DNA testing is showing.
