Rather than begin a new thread...

Instead of names showing (in full) i.e. forename & surname in the usual horizontal manner they are now showing vertically with only part of the forename!!!  ::)

In order to view the names, you need to press CTRL & - (minus) which reduces the page size but enables you to view names in full.

You’re not alone! It’s also happening on my iPad. It appears as normal if I view the screen in portrait view, but like many others I usually use landscape.

Not very pleased!

Bearing in mind that I am a cynic, I believe that all that American ‘rubbish’ you are continually referred to is so that you will pay a fortune to upgrade to see the hints.  Probably to find out they are nothing to do with your tree anyway.
What annoys me is the story of ‘paternal grandfather of wife of first cousin’.  Umm, he is my biological great grandfather.
James -Victoria, Australia originally from Keynsham, Somerset.
Janes - Keynsham and Bristol area.
Heale/Hale - Keynsham, Somerset
Vincent - Illogan/Redruth, Cornwall.  Moved to Sculcoates, Yorkshire; Grass Valley, California; Timaru, New Zealand and Victoria, Australia.
Williams somewhere in Wales - he kept moving
Ellis - Anglesey

Is there any hope that the people at Ancestry are reading this and think to themselves that this might not have been such a good idea?

Finally I've been helped by Ancestry's new  home page.

I accidentally clicked on it earlier today and was offered  a few 'matches  from the 1950 US census.   I thought that I recognized a couple of them and, lo, they were very very distant relatives of mine  or spouses of distant relatives ( say 5 or 6th cousin with removes!).

I'd decided not to look at the 1950 at the moment.

Not sure if this is a glitch or not but the top bar is now black for me and notifications are in red. Maybe makes messages stand out more?

Mine are back to normal almost...there's only room for 8 characters on a name i.e. a name like Robertson runs into a new line but it's better than it was as I can at least read them now  ;D

However, I have noticed my 'green' leaf (for hints) is now red ???

To think people are being paid for all this nonsense too! They'd be better leaving alone what doesn't need fixed & reducing their subs  ::)

I got those last night. I assume that they want us to notice them as green must have failed.  There's no way of turning them off  :(

No.  Ancestry probably have one or two computer nerds trying to think up new ways to link any set of data to every other set.  Nerds have been at work in new-car design for quite a few years  :(
