May I suggest that during the mid to late 1960s the Aust Electoral Commission tightened eligibility( or at least checking more carefully) for British Subjects to remain eligible to enrol, including checking continuous permanent residency if not seeking actual Aust Citizenship. .... if you took a trip back (family, funerals etc) you were perhaps put back onto end of queues d.c.
I am not home so don't have trusty note book at hand.... look for when Britain stopped importing our dairy products, preferring to trade within Europe ....diminishing the remains of Queen Vics Empire to a sportrng event every 4 years
PS, If you are ONLY a British Subject, and not an Aust Citizen, but havw continued to live in Au, and you were enrolled in earlyv1960s, so aged 21and over back then, and you are still alive, you are eligible to vote in the general elections, this Saturday,
