Electoral Rolls and Entry/Exit
« on: Tuesday 17 May 22 08:48 BST (UK) »
Please can anyone help with any/all info for Peter Speight born 1932 England died 1975 Perth WA.  Brief details of fatal car accident already obtained.  Would like to know his electoral roll details (if any) and how many times he made the trip UK to Aus and back again 1965-1975.

Many thanks

May I suggest that during the mid  to late 1960s  the Aust Electoral Commission tightened eligibility( or at least checking more carefully) for British Subjects to remain eligible to enrol, including checking  continuous permanent residency if not seeking actual Aust Citizenship.  .... if you took a trip back (family, funerals etc) you were perhaps put back onto end of queues d.c.

I am not home so don't have trusty note book at hand.... look for when Britain stopped importing our dairy products, preferring to trade within Europe ....diminishing  the remains of Queen Vics Empire to a sportrng event every 4 years

PS,  If you are ONLY a British Subject, and not an Aust Citizen, but havw continued to live in Au, and  you were enrolled in earlyv1960s, so  aged 21and over back then,  and you are  still alive, you are eligible to vote in the general elections, this Saturday,

Thank you everyone, this is invaluable.

I hadn't seen the entry cards before, fantastic info.  I am told that a Peter Speight is listed on the 1903-1980 Electoral Rolls??

There is a Peter SPEIGHT, but he is part of a family group.  Those that I can name as I can see that they are now deceased are George William (c1902-1979), Joan (c1923-2019), Peter (c1938-2013), Malcolm (c1948-2001).  I believe they emigrated from Yorkshire in 1969.

Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to look.  Any and all Speight details are very welcome and help to build the bigger picture.

Hi,

Have you contacted this thtead's originator,  I suggest they are the person looking to building the bigger picture about your father.
Please can anyone help with any/all info for Peter Speight born 1932 England died 1975 Perth WA.  Brief details of fatal car accident already obtained.  Would like to know his electoral roll details (if any) and how many times he made the trip UK to Aus and back again 1965-1975.

You could send them a private message, peehaps they are, like you, related to him.
