James Henry Wright
« on: Wednesday 11 May 22 22:35 BST (UK) »
James Henry Wright died in May 1904 in Hull, at the age of 76, so born c.1828 - I don't know where.  I know he was a master shipwright and have a couple of cuttings about his union activity but I don't where he lived up to 1903 (he died in the Charterhouse).  Any help from the censuses would be appreciated.
Godden in East Sussex, mainly Hastings area.
Richards in Lea, Gloucestershire, then London.
Williamson in Leith, Vickers in Nottingham.
Webb in Bildeston and Colchester.
Wesbroom in Kirby le Soken.
Ellington in Harwich.
Park, Palmer, Segar and Peartree in Kersey.

Could he have been a public house keeper in Hull 1901

There are possibilities for 1861 in Kent but without knowing any family members searching is hard .

I'm sure you've found him!  Thank you.  Sykes St makes a great deal of sense.  Was he also there in 1901?

1901 he is on Chariot Street, with his second wife Mary
1891 56 Redhouse Street
1881 8 Sykes Street
1871 6 Princess Street Publican and shipwright (KIngs Arms)
1861 New Bromton Kent.

If this is the correct family his first wife was Jane Holbery married 1847 registered Sculcoates

Her name re birth of children is spelled Horberry, Horbry, Horbery

His second wife Mary Ann Smalley nee Jackson were married 20 Janaury 1884 at St James Hull.
He said his father is John Wright
Her father John Jackson

Carole, I tried FS, of course, and found it of no help in this case - or in most other cases recently.

Amondg, many thanks.

So it's the correct family?

Children
Ann Rebecca registered 1851 Kingston Upon Hull mmn Horberry
Jane 1853 mmn Horbry
James Henry 1857 mmn Horberry
Emily 1860 registered Medway Kent mmn Horbery
Walter Harrold 1870 registered Sculcoates  mmn Horberry
--------------
1871
James H Wright 43 Publican and Shipwright (Kings Arms) born Hull
Jane 38  born Hull
Ann R 20 born Hull
Jane 18 born Hull
James H 14 born Hull
Emily 10 born Gillingham Kent
Walter H 6 months born Sculcoates
Tom Holberry 25 ? brother in law occupation Cooper born Hull

The name of the brother in law should help trace Jane's family

1891
James H 63 Head
Walter 20
Emily Robinson 13 grand daughter

So one of the daughters married a Robinson
