Please finally do Parky, and put the "boring ancestors" cliche to bed.  ;)

As in Michael Parkinson??

Truly?
I did..... but then, I knew all the line up for WDYTYA too. ;)

Who else did you think I mean? Yes, he is known as Parky.
Who knows.... there are other options... (> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkinson_(surname) <)
with such brevity, who can say?

I am sure you knew who I meant in the first place.

I have only seen the first 2 episodes, as I am having trouble with BBC channels on my TV, and watching on my laptop is not great. Any comments on the more recent ones?

I guess all the big names have been researched.
Perhaps they can't find anything sufficiently attention grabbing for a programme. :-\

I didn't enjoy the Richard Usman as so much of it was about a murder case where his relative had found the body .

Matt LUCAS. Jewish history has more of a story of research to it and resonated with me

+ I love the start of Anna Maxwell Martin discovering more about her grandparents
Big fan of recent history and how grandparents lives and personalities can affect their grandchildren

I felt that they were struggling to fill the programme with Richard Osman, interesting though the story of his relation was in the murder case.

The Matt  Lucas story I found a compelling one and so very sad and really brought home to me the suffering of the Jews in Germany pre war and also in Holland during the war.

I missed the Anna Maxwell Martin prog but watched last night's episode with Ralf Little. I must admit I had not heard of him, and I don't think I have missed much. He seemed quite distant and almost aloof at times and it seemed almost as though he knew the outcome of the story and was impatient for the actuality of the aspects he was waiting for- does that make sense?
I was a little disappointed at his reaction that his gfather or was it his ggrandfather gave up his football career in favour of the Welsh Religeous Revival of the early 20th century.
Not a lot of warmth in his personality I felt.

Hope the next one does more for me.

There's nothing wrong with being mediocre...as long as you're good at it!

- Are there any more in this series? I got the feeling it'd be a short one.
Don't feel to be missing out on people like Michael Parkinson, believe the reason for not "doing" him was that which would be true for so many of us, too- too everyday, limited and .... basically boring.
That said, I note that often now they are travelling only one or two generations back, sill in th memories that most of us will already have within our own families. sometimes a long historical sweep can be really exciting.
But I'll br looking forward to the next series, as always.
