Marriage at St Mary Redcliff
« on: Sunday 01 May 22 11:29 BST (UK) »
I am trying to confirm a marriage between Henry Davis and Mary Turner on or about the 10th August  1820.   Many others researching this family have this date but no one has been able to produce the actual record.  I am wondering if anyone who might have access to the parish records could check for me.
Many thanks
Mary

Suspect the “many others” have just copied it from other trees

Nothing on Family Search but I wonder if some “assumptions” have been made.

1841 entry has children aged between 1 - 20yrs old.  The 1yr old -Maria - shows mmn as Turner.  3yr old Caroline has no mmn so was illegitimate

Mary could be a second wife

Maria is not with Henry & Mary in 1851 but is living with George & Fanny Prigg & shown as niece.

The PR for St Mary Redcliffe shows a marriage on 8th August 1820 (John Walter and Ann Chipper), the following entry is  on  the 14th August 1820 (John Bendel and Susanna Bryant).  Nothing on the 10th.

Many thanks. I think some researchers have just copied from the tree of others without checking sources.  It often happens.    The Maria with the Prigg family is a different one.  In 1851 she was living with her married sister Martha Withers.
