Gayton/Geiton/Guiton/Geyton/Guyton of Tipperary

I am researching my Gayton family line from Co Tipperary.  My 3rd great grandfather Thomas Gayton (b. abt 1791 Co. Tipperary - d. 10 Oct 1858 Argyle, Nova Scotia, Canada) emigrated from Co Tipperary as a young man (said to be from the Clonmel area where he lived on/near River Suir) about year 1805, embarking at Waterford and sailing to Newfoundland, Canada. After ~1.5yrs Thomas Gayton left Newfoundland for Argyle, Nova Scotia, Canada where he settled and married Anne Spinney (b.21 Mar 1789  Argyle, Nova Scotia, Canada - d. 3 May 1855  Argyle, Nova Scotia, Canada) on 5 Jun 1814.

The name Gayton was also often written as Geiton, Guiton, Geyton, and Guyton.  Thomas was Roman Catholic. I find the majority of church records for Gayton/Geiton/Guiton/Geyton/Guyton are concentrated in Co Tipperary, esp the Killenaule area, dating back to the mid 1700s. If anyone else is researching their Irish Gayton relatives from Co Tipperary (or name variation Geiton/Guiton/Geyton/Guyton), I'd love to compare notes!

Have you added the names to "Surname Interests" and checked if anyone else is researching them? It's in "Your Tools" at foot of page.

Thank you for pointing out the typo!  I changed Anne Spinney's year of birth to 1789.

I will check the "Surname Interests" and add Thomas Gayton (if no one has already done that).
