Stephenson family help
« on: Sunday 24 April 22 09:43 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone, I am trying to do my husbands tree. Information is limited but my mother in law was told the following information.

James stephenson was apparently born circa 1831 in antrim to parents Thomas stephenson and Mary leith/leeth. Apparently Thomas was born about 1800 but I can not find a record anywhere.

Note the tree which is floating around by Suzanne Meikle is not correct and the tree we are researching and trying to verify info.
James apparently came to Australia in 1854 onboard the Lincluden castle. I found a record for a Jas Meikle (possible misspelling). Would anyone please be able to help. His journey in Australia is fairly black and white and documented but not prior.

Thanks in advance.

Could his father have been born in Scotland ?
Do you have any knowledge of any siblings .?
Or any more information about his mother ?

Hi Brigidmac, I have toyed with the idea of Scotland but come up empty there at this point too. There is no knowledge of siblings and No this is where the line stops. There is nothing. It’s almost as if his life before Australia didn’t exist.
